Background. Xero states that it was founded in 2006. Its cloud accounting platform and app ecosystem are designed around small businesses, accountants, and bookkeepers rather than enterprise manufacturing operations.
Where it specializes. Xero connects contacts, invoices, bills, bank transactions, payments, credit notes, accounts, tax rates, currencies, tracking categories, and reporting within a tenant organization. Commerce integration must distinguish an operational order from the accounting invoice, payment, fee, refund, and settlement records it may produce.
API model and integration challenge. Xero uses OAuth 2.0, scoped tenant connections, the Accounting API, webhooks, pagination, and published rate and connection limits.
