What We Know About Odoo CRM So Far
Based on Odoo CRM’s own documentation and API2Cart’s discovery process — not a promise of a release date.
API & Integration. Odoo CRM is accessed through the same ORM-backed external API surface as the rest of Odoo, historically exposed as XML-RPC and JSON-RPC (both scheduled for removal in Odoo 22, fall 2028) alongside a newer External JSON-2 REST API intended as their replacement. Authentication uses per-user API keys (Odoo 14+) generated under Settings > Users > API Keys, passed as the password in RPC calls or via an X-Api-Key header. Because Odoo instances are frequently multi-database/multi-company, the integration must resolve or specify the target database explicitly (via the database name, an X-Odoo-Database header, or host-based dbfilter), and endpoints return 404 if the database can't be inferred.
Odoo CRM integration is not live yet. API coverage, authentication, supported entities, write operations, webhooks, limits, and release timing remain subject to technical discovery and customer demand.
Background. Odoo traces its company history to 2005.
For this platform, the strongest potential fit is store activity available to CRM and operational automations. A unified approach could also connect online orders with leads and opportunities and support modular workflows without repeated custom imports. These are planning scenarios, not a statement that the integration or any specific API method is currently available.
A useful technical discovery would start with store activity available to CRM and operational automations. It would then test whether API permissions and identifiers can support a stable link between storefront activity and CRM records. For this audience, success would mean being able to connect online orders with leads and opportunities while also helping teams support modular workflows without repeated custom imports. The implementation would need clear ownership rules, retry behavior, rate-limit handling, and a documented boundary between source-of-truth systems.
Validation angle. Validation must record the Odoo version, hosting model, installed CRM modules, custom models, database routing, access rules, API-plan eligibility, key rotation, and the migration path from legacy RPC interfaces to JSON-2.
Verified vendor documentation. Odoo documents bearer API keys, model-specific JSON-2 endpoints, database routing, access rules, and plan restrictions. Version, hosting, installed modules, and custom models must be confirmed. Read the official Odoo External JSON-2 API documentation.
Roadmap evaluation considers API maturity, addressable customer demand, commerce relevance, authentication and rate-limit constraints, maintenance cost, and overlap with existing integrations. Listing a platform here records demand and exploration; it does not promise a release date.
