What API2Cart Is Evaluating for Rootstock Cloud ERP Integration

01

Candidate workflow

Associate commerce demand with Salesforce accounts, products, orders, inventory, and production. Final entity and method coverage will follow verified vendor interfaces and customer requirements.

02

Operational outcome

The intended result is to preserve division, site, project, lot, serial, and work-order relationships. Identity rules and idempotency would be defined before transactional writes are enabled.

03

ERP safeguards

The design must reuse trusted Salesforce identities while preventing duplicate operational transactions. Customers, products, sales orders, fulfillments, invoices, and production records would keep their distinct lifecycle roles.

What We Know About Rootstock Cloud ERP So Far

Based on Rootstock Cloud ERP’s own documentation and API2Cart’s discovery process — not a promise of a release date.

API & Integration. Rootstock is built natively on the Salesforce Platform, so integration goes through Salesforce's own APIs (REST, Bulk API, etc.) against Rootstock's prebuilt "ERP Data Framework" objects rather than a separate proprietary API. This means the integration inherits standard Salesforce governor limits — a daily rolling API call cap tied to user license count and edition, separate Bulk API job/batch quotas, a 50 MB heap limit, and a 6 MB synchronous callout payload limit — so high-volume data movement typically needs the Bulk API instead of simple REST loops. Authentication follows standard Salesforce OAuth 2.0 flows for the connected org.

Rootstock Cloud ERP integration is not live yet. Authentication, modules, entities, fields, writes, events, limits, editions, and release timing remain subject to technical discovery and demand.

Background. Rootstock states that it launched in 2008 and has focused on discrete manufacturing from inception. It is delivered natively on the Salesforce Platform rather than as an unrelated ERP with a separate CRM database.

Where it specializes. Rootstock positions the product for manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and other product-centric companies. Its workflows cover quote-to-cash, planning and production, procurement, inventory, supply chain, financial processes, and service. This is a closer fit for companies that make, move, and service physical goods than for a general professional-services accounting deployment.

Integration challenge. Because Rootstock is Salesforce-native, integration feasibility depends on the customer’s Salesforce organization, licensed Rootstock package, object model, record types, permissions, automation, and package version. The connector may use Salesforce platform APIs, but it cannot assume that standard Salesforce objects alone represent manufacturing state. API2Cart discovery must identify Rootstock-managed objects and relationships for items, sites, inventory, sales orders, work orders, procurement, and fulfillment, then account for Salesforce API limits and automation side effects.

Technical validation. Engineering must validate package objects, Salesforce limits, permissions, platform events, and posting rules. Unsupported modules and operations would remain outside the public scope.

Roadmap evaluation considers API maturity, sandbox access, operational correctness, commerce relevance, scale, customer demand, maintenance cost, deployment variants, and overlap with existing connectors. This page records a candidate, not a promised release date.
